Geopositioning and Information System
2011-08-19 11:47:36This Semester (2011/2012 G1), I'm teaching this subject: Geopositioning and Information System
Course Aims
To learn and understand basic principles of modern navigation and positioning technologies. It will include GPS, indoor/outdoor positioning, spatial databases/GIS, Internet and mobile computing, and digital maps. Case study such as Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and Location Based Service (LBS) will also be discussed. Not only the theory, students will learn to build a simple GIS using web-based application.
Outcomes
When you successfully complete this course, you should be able to:
- Understand how position determination technology and navigation works
- Understand the implementation of position and navigation determination on transport telematics or location based service
- Create a simple GIS application combined with digital map (Google map API)
Keywords: GIS, spatial information system, GPS
